Boy, everyone had one of these tragedy-to-triumph arcs of the Grammys weekend, it seems. Dua Lip went from disaster to disco, Mariah went from pretty great to epically awful to best ever, and now here’s Janelle Monae, demonstrating the worst way to wear metallic flowers followed up by the best way.
IN NICOLE + FELICIA AT THE PRE-GRAMMY GALA
Turning each boob into a giant rose just looks incredibly silly to us. To be fair, we don’t think big metallic roses add much good to any ensemble, but to just slap them onto each cup feels lazy and uninspired. The ensemble probably wouldn’t be improved by removing that awful choker, but it definitely isn’t helping the look.
IN ARMANI PRIVÉ AT THE GRAMMY AWARDS
This, on the other end, is pure stunning. It’s elegant, sexy, and drop-dead chic. This time, the flower detail looks gorgeously rich and glamorous. This time, the choker is pretty and coordinates beautifully. She looks amazing.
