BAFTA 2024 Style File: ANATOMY OF A FALL Star Sandra Hüller in Chanel and Louis Vuitton

While she may not be out there soaking up as much attention as her fellow Best Actress Oscar nominees, we nonetheless feel a little bad that we haven’t given Anatomy of a Fall star Sandra Hüller the spotlight treatment before. Fortunately for all of us, she came out for some high-profile outfit-wearing this weekend. Even better: her tastes run toward the odd and wacky.

Granted, big ol’ pants are not exactly an off-the-beaten-path choice at the moment. She’s following the trends. But we do think this is kind of a funny and offbeat choice for a Chanel-hosted party. We like the pants and the shoes, but that’s just about the most generic Chanel jacket she could have snagged.

This is a spectacular look, but only because the styling elevates the dress so much. It’s a perfectly fine sort of frock for a red carpet. As long as you can keep it relatively free of wrinkles, silver satin will always have a certain glam elegance to it in pictures. But that curtain-like bodice isn’t a great design element, particularly at the top and bottom. A ruched or shirred bodice with a softer neckline and a less awkward waist would have been lovely. But we love how the styling has a slight edge and even a sense of fun to it. That pompadour looks spectacular on her and the earrings complement it nicely. The makeup is borderline harsh, but we like that they really leaned into the idea of not softening her.
