Style File: Brie Larson Promotes THE MARVELS in New York

As we noted in our last podcast, the very second the SAG AFTRA strike ended, that Disney machine kicked into high gear, sending The Marvels star Iman Vellani out to a screening that very night, and pushing her co-star Brie Larson out the door for a couple of quickly coordinated appearances. Perhaps not surprisingly, the looks were kept very simple.

She literally popped into a theater unannounced to thank the fans for coming (and also to get press, of course). Showing up in a gown would have been a hilariously terrible choice. We think the needle has been threaded nicely here. She’s a little too dressed up to be a typical theater-goer, but she’s not so dressed up that she looks weird in the setting. It’s a cute look, if not terribly photogenic, given the lighting situation in your average movie theater.

What can we say? This is perfect. It’s attention-grabbing, but not in a flashy way. It’s stylish, but easy to wear. It suits her perfectly because she doesn’t like a lot of fuss. And most important of all, it looks great onscreen. That’s not exactly what we’d call a sitting-down belt, but it looks great paired with the silver pumps.
