Darlings, a whole bunch of notable, glamorous, stylish celebrity ladies hit the red carpet in London for the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year party. Yay for all of them, but we’re here for the dresses. Come now, let’s not be coy. We’re all shallow and judgmental or we wouldn’t be here. We have Janelle Monae the spotlight treatment because her nipple-piercing dress definitely deserved it, but let’s see how a whole bunch of the other attendees did.

Emerald Fennell in Jenny Packham

Somewhat conservatively retro in a Nancy Reagan sort of way, but we can’t claim it looks bad. We don’t love the slicked back hair with it.

Emilia Clarke in Emilia Wickstead

Girl, that is not your (non) color. Not for pictures, anyway.

Emily Beecham

We really like the combination of hair, dress and boots, but those ghost gloves are awful.

It’s giving Audrey and we’re not mad at that at all.

India Ria Amarteifio in Stella McCartney

It’s a relatively simple look, but the subtle embellishments – and her hair – really make it.

Jenna Ortega in Dior

Upholstery and mosquito netting. We’re all for more coats on red carpets, but this really doesn’t photograph well.

Jessie Buckley in Erdem

Sharp and cool with a goth glam twist. We like the idea of boots with this, but we’re not sure those are the right pair. The hair is terrible.

Kim Cattrall in Balmain

Retro to the point that we’d bet good money she wore some near-exact version of this in her youth. It looks great on her, but again, we’re not loving the hair here.

Naomi Watts in Tory Burch

The posing is annoying, but the sleeves pretty much demand it. Looks a little too ecclesiastic to us, even with that neckline.

Again, we’re all for red carpet outerwear, but it needs to be more photogenic than that. It’s a gorgeous coat, but it doesn’t really go with the dress. As for the latter, we’re afraid it’s kind of terrible.

Chic, unfussy, and perfect.

There is entirely too much going on with every single aspect of this look.
