When we saw that Killers of the Flower Moon star Lily Gladstone hit the red carpet at the Time 100 Gala as an honoree, there was no question she was getting the spotlight post treatment. It didn’t even matter what she was wearing; we just feel like she more than anyone on the acting awards track really lost out on a promotional opportunity because of the SAG AFTRA strike. Don’t get us wrong, we’ve been very vocal supporters of the entertainment industry strikes this year – as is Lily herself, who’s been on the picket line in the last week – but we just knew she’d have used the moment of this film’s promotional tour to make some really interesting and notable style choices. We all missed out on getting to see them. Remember when we said it didn’t even matter what she was wearing in order to get this spotlight moment? Turns out, it really did.
While this is a sharp look on its own merits and we love the rich color of the coat, the dress is from Osage woman-owned clothing brand Burning Wagon Designs, featuring a Buffalo nickel print. She might be prohibited from promoting her film, but she’s not going to miss an opportunity to promote brands that have meaning and importance both to her and to the film’s story.
