Nicki Minaj is far from the first performer to show up at the VMAs in a bridal ensemble, and of course she’s extremely far from being the first performer to show up in a see-through outfit, but this year, the Barbie World singer gave her own pink spin on the old classic, courtesy of those tacky queens Dolce & Gabbana.
The bodice design is kind of interesting and we think the cut of the shorts give it a retro feel that works well. Had she been wearing a thong or smaller pair of panties, it would have tipped too far over into literal wedding night lingerie. Having said that, it still looks like wedding night lingerie to us. Then again, that’s pretty much the point of it. Bottom line: we wouldn’t call this a chic, high-fashion look, but as branding and costume design, it works really well for her.
