Ah, remember the Shelley O days, darlings? When we could devote practically an entire site category to covering her FLOTUS fashion? We miss those pencil skirts and J. Crew sweaters. To be fair, we think her post White House style has been much more interesting, largely because she feels free from the restrictions placed on her by the First Lady role. You’d never have seen those braids while she was living at Pennsylvania Avenue. Anyway, former FLO brought a little of that Shelley O style back when she took part in a ceremony honoring the 50th anniversary of Billie Jean King closing the pay disparity gap at the US Open.

That little cardi is classic Shelley O style. The whole look is really cute. It’s dressy enough for cameras and even speech-giving, but sporty-casual in a way that suits the venue. It reminds us a little of how Princess Kate tends to blend her royal style with her natural preference for sporty looks, although we think Michelle is better at it. It looks like the straps could’ve used some adjusting, given the rather poor fit in the bust. Aside from that, no critiques. Love the espadrilles, another Kate-like touch. It practically goes without saying, but we love the hair.
