Trust Princess Cathy to pick a designer with a little edge to them and then show up looking like any number of royal women circa 1990. In other words, welcome to another round of “Paying tribute to Diana” style reports. In this instance, even cynical old bitchbloggers such as we have to admit that the connection isn’t exactly tenuous this time around.
Granted, if Diana, Fergie, Anne or Margaret ever wore something like this back in the day, you can bet the shoulders were three times as broad and the waist went largely undefined. Such was the state of royal (and every other kind of) womenswear in the ’80s and ’90s. Still, it’s got that classic sporty look that makes it perfect for Wimbledon, although we don’t particularly love that shade of green. Can’t say we love the contrasting lapels or the big white clownbuttons either. We can’t help thinking her accessories game has gotten strangely worse of late. Those earrings really don’t go with a style like this.
