A Doll’s House star Jessica Chastain did not manage to take a step closer to her EGOT status last night, but she did manage to hit that red carpet looking like a mega-star. She may not consider that a win, but shallow bitches such as us can only applaud. And also complain, of course.
The gown is gorgeous. The subtle gradient of the yellows elevates the design and prevents her from looking like a banana up there. It’s a tricky color for the pale folk, but she’s pulling it off beautifully. It’s funny. For years, pendants were completely out of style on the red carpet and we spent all that time repeating the mantra “She needed a pendant here,” but now that they’re trendy, we’re stuck repeating a different one: that’s the wrong pendant. It looks tacky as hell sitting on her bust like that. They needed to shorten that chain by a good three inches. Even so, it would still look a little awkward paired with a string-tied cape. We can’t decide if she should have worn it over the cape or not.
