They’re here! They’re queer! Also: racially, ethnically and size diverse! Also-also: there are a lot of them! We’re talking about the character posters for director Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Issa Rae, Helen Mirren, Dua Lipa, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon and a whole bunch of other stars. Scroll through and try to guess which one’s our fave.

Okay first: This still looks as fun as the teaser trailer promised. Second: that is one hell of a huge cast. Third: from what little we can see, the costume designs are perfect, managing to straddle that line between fantasy doll clothes and real-world fashion. Fourth: casting Dua Lipa as a mermaid Barbie is honestly brilliant and we hope they interrupt the movie to give her a good eight or nine-minute solo number with insane production values. Fifth: We also hope the aforementioned number has nothing whatsoever to do with the plot. And finally, our favorite of the Barbie iterations on display here? It could be only one. Last year, when the first production still of Margot Robbie in the title role dropped, we tweeted that “if they really want to do her right, she should end the movie with crunchy hair and mismatched shoes,” like every Barbie ever owned by a little girl. We were only half-joking about it. We figured that if Gerwig was really committed to translating the whole Barbie mythos and experience into a film that’s ostensibly for grownups, she’d be remiss if she didn’t include the nearly universal image of a Barbie who got subjected to a toddler tantrum or a devious little brother. In other words…

We are IN LOVE with this Barbie and we hope she becomes a drag queen standard. We hope her other shoe is a little plastic pump with teethmarks in it.
