Yes, that is Violet Chacki and Gottmik from Drag Race serving cheekbones for days. Sam is in head-to-toe custom Valentino as are their backup dancers. We love the flamboyance of their look, but we love even more how it’s married to an haute couture aesthetic. No tea no shade against any of the other outrageous looks of the night, but a big part of the appeal of their ensemble is just how impeccably rendered it is. LOVE the lace-trimmed top hat and crystal studded cane. They look amazing in this and much like Lizzo’s approach to style, we really appreciate how much Sam Smith puts themself out there, big and queer and impossible to miss. We’re so thrilled for Kim to have made history as the first openly trans singer to win a Grammy and it was genuinely sweet how Sam ceded the mic to her for the acceptance speech. The dress is just okay on its own. It only really comes alive when it’s surrounded by all of the other Satanic wedding party looks. Love the bridal veil and the red versions of Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding pumps.
