You might be sitting here thinking “My goodness, Anya Taylor-Joy has done it again, serving up the most eye-popping fashion that’s also particularly well-suited to her striking looks.” And you might well be right to think such thoughts which eerily mirror our own. But we feel like a warning is in order before you make any further judgments. NOW you might be sitting there thinking “My goodness, is there a scrolldown issue?” Oh, kitten. There is SUCH a scrolldown issue.
But it’s not an issue for us because we clapped with glee at the sight of her. The outfit is gorgeous and the shoes are ridiculous. She’s very good at playing up the unsettling side of fashion and how she can work with it in ways that are best suited to her looks. In other words, she can do pretty and weird at the same time. In fact, it seems to be her goal with most of her public ensembles. She’s a pretty ingenue who runs toward the least ingenue-esque styles possible. What’s not to love here? Yes, the shoes are impractical. Who cares? Why be practical if you don’t have to be?
