Challengers star Zendaya took her backup dancers Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor along for a few surprise theater appearances and then ditched them to do the work herself.

They’re fine for where they are. We wouldn’t dream of offering a fashion critique, although we will note that Mike is dressed pretty much the same as he has for the photo calls on this tour.

Again, they’re both okay. Mike’s jacket is nice. Sweater vests are one of the least flattering garments any man can wear. There. We said it.

This is chic and we love the sneakers with it. In our minds, this is how most of her promotional wardrobe should have looked: fashionable, stylish, and only hinting at the actual topic of the film.

This is also very sharp although we think we might have liked a repeat of the kicks with this one.

There’s no denying she looks very cute in this and we certainly wouldn’t suggest she should have worn something dressier, but it really is bizarre to see an actress in a sports-themed movie promote it by cosplaying as an actual athlete. The only reason the fashion press and the public don’t think it’s weirder is because tenniswear is a form of activewear that doubles as sportswear. If she’d played a track star and promoted it in running shorts and a tank top, everyone would think it a little gimmicky if not downright weird.

This is spectacular; possibly the best she’s looked on this entire tour. If she’d just stuck to sporty tennis whites throughout the tour, you’d never have heard us bitching and whining so much.
