Demi Lovato got their punk on for their visit to the Jimmy Kimmel studio, opting to stay on theme for both the walking-in and walking-out look.
Demi, you had us until we got to the footwear. This is a classic “punk princess” sort of vibe, right down to the runs in their tights. It’s not true punk, of course; not even close. Hundreds of miles away from it. Leagues, even. But even if it is an appropriation of true punk style watered down and lightened up to a consumer-friendly aesthetic, it’s a classic pop star look going back nearly four decades at this point. The jacket’s the best part. The ruffled top feels a little too fussy for the vibe, but the shoes are WAY off. Why they’re not wearing a pair of Doc Martens or other form of heavy boot eludes us. Sure, it’s a cliche, but they’ve already committed to the cliche at this point.
We like this version a lot more, if only because it feels like a more cohesively styled look. Nothing feels out of place. We don’t love the pants, though; even if they do look pretty comfy.
