Jewels and couture and sparkle, darlings! We won’t go so far as to say that they’re what the Cannes Film Festival is all about, but they sure do make up a big chunk of the total Cannes experience. We already gave the spotlight to jury members Rebecca Hall and Deepika Padukone, but they weren’t the only stars who showed up to shine. Let’s assess some of the other opening ceremony attendees, oui?
Bérénice Bejo in Valentino
We’re all for a sparkly pink jumpsuit on the Cannes red carpet, but we don’t like the combination of that neckline with a pajama-like cut.
Eva Longoria in Alberta Ferretti
A very pretty version of a dress we’ve seen a million times.
Juliane Moore in Bottega Veneta
Gorgeous necklace, but the proportions on that gown are horrible.
Katherine Langford in Prada
It’s giving 1950s Hollywood starlet – from the front, at least. It took us a minute to get used to the back pack, but we came around on it. It’s an interesting detail and we like how it attaches the train.
Lashana Lynch in Fendi Couture
Pure stunning. A perfect case of the right dress on the right wearer because we wouldn’t normally praise a white lace gown like this or be inclined to forgive an annoying detail like those streamers. But she knows exactly how to pose in it and she’s styled to perfection, right down to the manicure.
Noomi Rapace in Dior Couture
This is surprisingly conventional for her. We don’t love the non-color but the styling really helps to give it some punch. Those earrings are perfect for it.
