Cannes Film Festival 2022: Julia Roberts in Louis Vuitton at the ARMAGEDDON TIME Premiere: IN or OUT?

Sometimes, we take a look at a celebrity on a red carpet and we just know instinctively that their outfit has to be put up to a vote. Julia Roberts has a long history of going her own way on the red carpet – mostly ditching skirts and dresses a good decade or so back – but her choices have usually had a high impact feel to them, even if the particulars don’t always come together as well as they should. She knows how to look like a star, but we tend to think it comes down to knowing how to dress with personality rather than having chic or elegant instincts. For instance:

It’s both simple and a lot at the same time. It’s a standard take on a lady tux, except it’s totally non-standard in its shape (those pleated pants) and details (the tails). We have serious questions as to whether it works as a jumpsuit at all, given the prominent waist seam. We think it might have hung a little better on her as a jacket and pair of pants. Even so, we can’t deny that the look has a lot of appeal, not least because she appears to love wearing it. That stunning necklace doesn’t hurt.
