Mr. and Mrs. Tryhard are here and we’re happy to see them, in that “Oh, look. A couple we haven’t covered since the Before Times” sort of way that still tends to delight us. Granted, they both stayed quite busy maintaining their respective spotlights over the last few weirdyears, but to our surprise, it’s been almost two years since we’ve covered them together. Let’s rise to the occasion, limber up, crack those knuckles, roll up our sleeves, and really give them the judgment they’ve gone without for so long, shall we?

He’s okay, but we think the sneakers are looking a bit geriatric. There’s a way to wear casual or athletic footwear with a suit and have it feel fresh (even if it is a look that’s been on trend for years), but those lobster kicks aren’t the way to do it. As for her, we’ve been pretty supportive of Richard Quinn’s head-to-toe floral looks of the last few seasons, but this may be the one that gets us to declare it a done and tired trend. Part of what characterized Quinn’s use of florals was the cheeky and sometimes ironic way he used them, but we’re heading back into “Kim Kardashian wearing a couch to the Met Gala” territory with this one. It’s way too loud and borderline ugly a print to be working that much of it at once. We think we could’ve accepted the jumpsuit if the coat had been in a solid coordinated color. Even a bright pink one would’ve worked better.
