As for these folks, the looks ranged from just showy enough for the CFDAs to disappointingly generic, we’re sorry to say. Come with us as we yell at them for failing.

We love Thom Browne, but we’re afraid none of this is working for us.

She knows all she really has to do is serve face and she dresses accordingly.

Man, why the hell did everyone dress so boring for what should be a big night for fashion?
Dove Cameron in Carolina Herrera
THANK YOU DOVE. At least SOMEONE knows you go big at the CFDAs, even if you do look a little like a shower scrubbie.
Drew Barrymore in Christian Siriano
Or a lot like one. We kinda hate this, but at least it’s not a plain black dress. Still, neither the style nor the color suits her. It honestly looks too much like the stuff she wore on red carpets when she was eight.
Emily Blunt in Christopher John Rogers
We don’t love this circus peanut color on her, but the lighting looks less than optimal, so who knows? The real issue is the terrible fit.
HoYeon Jung in Louis Vuitton
Ashley Olsen, you will never be Fashion Mother Superior. THIS is how you take your vows. It’s harsh and severe and totally high fashion. The shoes are hideous and we love them. Serve, queen.

It makes us sad to see an icon in such a plain dress and we’re sorry to say that hair does not suit her.

We hate to admit it, but we love it.

It’s just not a great dress.
Zazie Beetz in Brother Vellies
This is another instance of “We hate it, but we respect it and we’re grateful to see it.” In other words, it’s not a black dress. The top is great and we could be convinced on the skirt, but not with those boots. They would have to be dark brown or black.
