We may have noted a time or two before that Ruth Negga seems to have a singular talent for making the most unlikely looks and pieces come off incredibly chic. This look is a prime example.

Lady, you had us until we got to the shoes. We hate to be dogmatic about it, but that dress was clearly meant to be worn with boots. Black patent leather slingbacks are the oddest choice. We don’t even like the dress all that much. Patterned velvet can be so dicey and a black-and-brown color story rarely photographs well. And yet, you top it off with that amazing hairstyle and somehow it all works. Until you get to her ankles, that is. Her powers don’t appear to extend that far.
