Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep continue the relentless The Devil Wears Prada 2 promo tour with a stop in Shanghai. We have good news and bad news. The good news is that they’re not dressed in the film’s branding colors of red, white and black. The bad news? Oh, we think you can figure it out. The bad news…

They’re still dressing a little clowny.

This isn’t terrible, but it has the feel of those aughts fashion comedies like the OG TDWP or Confessions of a Shopaholic; girlie, silly fashion. It doesn’t feel much like Anne’s style, but it also doesn’t feel much like her character Andy’s style. It washes her out, but we figure the entire point of the design is that it’s fluffy and cloud-like. It just wouldn’t work if it were rendered in a bold color. We don’t much like the shape of it either.

Again, this just doesn’t feel like something Meryl would normally choose to wear. The color looks great on her and we actually like the top half, but that skirt is too puckery and boxy. The sash is terrible. The whole look adds bulk and volume to her and for as long as we’ve been covering her, those are things she tends to religiously avoid in her style choices. The brooch is nice, but it really doesn’t go with the rest of the outfit, especially when she insists on wearing those Terminator shades.
