Emmys 2021: “The Queen’s Gambit” Star Anya Taylor-Joy in Dior Couture

Look, everyone, look! The rare and elusive Fashion Gazelle has been spotted on the Emmys red carpet!

Wait, sorry. Our mistake. This is the equally elusive Fashion Unicorn making her appearance. The FU is a magical creature who has an otherworldly ability to make honestly quite strange fashion designs look like the height of artistry and chicness. In other words, it’s not the fashion that stuns here, it’s her wearing the fashion. We don’t think most blondes look all that great in yellows and we’d never recommend wearing two different shades of it on a red carpet. We also don’t think the design here is particularly great so much as it’s incredibly dramatic – again, on her. She knows what to do with these pieces to make them look unusual and eye-catching. That’s more or less a formal coat, but the way she walked the red carpet with it had most fashion folks scrambling to describe what it even was. She’s a rare actress who can model as well as the highest-paid runway-walkers in the world. Her hair looks gorgeous. If we have any complaints, it’s that the jewelry could have been a little more eye-catching. Granted, there’s no room for a necklace or bracelets and those earrings are gorgeous on their own, but we can’t shake the feeling that the focus-pulling ensemble doesn’t have an accessory that can go toe to toe with it, if that makes any sense. We think she needed some chandeliers on those lobes.
