[insert David Rose “I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS” meme here]

Kittens, if you’ve been paying attention to our nonsense for any length of time, you may understand just why these first look images from Ryan Murphy’s upcoming Halston bio-series starring Ewan McGregor are causing us to pause all of our pre-Oscars coverage at a time when we kinda can’t afford to take the break. We’ve been covering this shoot for a bit and we had quite a bit to say about Halston himself in a podcast a few years back, but trust: we are positively salivating over these images.

Today, on what would have been legendary fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick’s 89th birthday, we honor the visionary icon by announcing the Friday, May 14 global premiere date for the limited series Halston, starring Ewan McGregor.

The limited series Halston follows the legendary fashion designer (Ewan McGregor), as he leverages his single, invented name into a worldwide fashion empire that’s synonymous with luxury, sex, status and fame, literally defining the era he lives in, 1970’s and ‘80’s New York — until a hostile takeover forces him to battle for control of his most precious asset… the name Halston itself. The series is Executive Produced by Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, Alexis Martin Woodall, Daniel Minahan, Ewan McGregor, Eric Kovtun, Sharr White, and Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Films. Minahan also serves as the series director.

Cast/Characters: Ewan McGregor – “Halston”  | Krysta Rodriguez – “Liza Minnelli” | Rebecca Dayan – “Elsa Peretti” | Bill Pullman – “David Mahoney” | Gian Franco Rodriguez – “Victor Hugo” | David Pittu – “Joe Eula” | Sullivan Jones – “Ed Austin” | Rory Culkin – “Joel Schumacher” | Kelly Bishop – “Eleanor Lambert” | Vera Farmiga – “Adele”

Just LOOK AT ALL THIS FABULOUSNESS:

SHOOT THAT SHIT INTO OUR VEINS, NETFLIX.

We’ve got to dash off and take care of a sudden tsunami of red carpetry, but we’ll have more to say about this series in today’s podcast. We’ll just leave something we wrote in The Before Times, when the first on-location shots surfaced:

He was a visionary fashion designer who also worked very hard at projecting the image of what people think a visionary fashion designer is – an ourobouros of affectations and expectations that eventually swallowed him up. As we said… WE ARE FUCKING OBSESSED WITH THIS.

Oh, we SO HOPE the coming rehash of the roaring twenties looks exactly like all this. Let’s get a little post-pandora disco style on up in here.
