The Dutch royals continued their tour of the States with a stop in Miami and Queen Maxima continues to work some personal-best looks during the trip.

We don’t love the big sash, but for the most part, it’s a pretty cute dress. She’s been avoiding all her usual style pitfalls on this trip, including poor color-matching, flyaway hair, and obtrusive or oddly placed jewelry. None of that’s on display here and we think the monochromatic, relatively simple designs she’s been wearing on this trip indicate where her style sweet spot lies. Keep it bright, bold and simple. It’s the QEII way.

We realize that so much of this sort of thing is playacting for the cameras and that royals are very good at appearing happy and excited over things that don’t remotely interest in them, but they really do come off like a fun hang. The red looks amazing on her. It’s a pretty cute look, perfect for a hot weather appearance. Once again, we don’t like the sash/belt, but our main quibble is that the proportions are off and the pants should sit a little lower on her hips. It might even be improved by untucking the blouse, although she’d have to get rid of that complicated belt.
