Rachel Brosnahan and John Waters on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” Set in NYC

We defy anyone to not be delighted by these pictures.

If someone wanted to pay us to sit on a city bench and sip Cokes while John Waters makes us double over in laughter, please contact us. We never realized how much we’ve failed in our lives until this possibility was floated.

Waters has a recurring guest role in the upcoming fourth season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Details about the part are not to be found, but we’re going to go out on a limb and suggest that Midge befriends a fabulously witty and well-attired older gay man. The funny part here is that it doesn’t even look like he’s in period costume, since that’s pretty much how John Waters dresses all the time now.

We stopped watching the show midway through its second season for a variety of reasons, not least of which was that the style of showrunner Amy Sherman Palladino is not really to our tastes but we’re definitely going to have to check back in on this one once the preeminent director of queer trash cinema is onscreen.
