If you’ve followed her on our site for any length of time, you probably already know that Tessa Thompson has an adventurous, risk-taking approach to fashion along with an accompanying love of celebrating and spotlighting the work of up-and-comers. She managed to check off both boxes with this look from designer Estelle Zhu:
Estelle Zhu graduated from IFA Paris with a degree in fashion design and technology. This look is part of her graduation collection, for which she won the school’s first prize. Of all the off-beat stuff Tessa’s worn lately, we think we may love this one the most. It’s strange and challenging, but also romantic and deeply evocative. It’s not the kind of fashion that works particularly well for the red carpet, but we’re loving how stars and stylists are starting to realize they can get way more editorial in their choices when they don’t have to go the conventional route for promo work. You’re in your backyard trying to promote your movie by posing in borrowed high fashion. Why put on something everyone’s seen a million times? Love it.
