Darlings, the stars came out for the Something-Something Awards! Sorry, it’s the SAG-AFTRA Patron of the Artists award, but that just sounds made up. Anyway, the looks ranged from surprisingly stylish to more than a little dreary. Oh well, better luck next year, artists!
Angela Bassett
It’s a bit too low-key for pictures, but from what we can see, it seems to be working pretty well. Hair and makeup are flawless.
Ava DuVernay in Greta Constantine
It’s fairly simple and in her preferred shape. She’s standing like the fit isn’t all that comfy for her, but at least the color looks fantastic on her.
Awkwafina in Monique Lhuillier
For something so sparkly, the design gives the distinct impression of being awkward and a little dreary. Those sheer sleeves cuffs are just weird. None of the fringe appears to be laying correctly.
Constance Wu in Etro
Looks like a summer dress and the print is way too muddy for pictures.
Cynthia Erivo
Honestly? This is way too fabulous for this event. You should’ve saved this one, lady.
David Oyelowo
LOVE this. We feel like it’s beyond critique – although we really don’t have any.
Julia Garner in Kate Spade New York
Nothing wrong with a little Roxie Hart drag, but the dress is kind of dull on its own. She tends to make it more interesting just by wearing it.
Olivia Wilde in Valentino
We’re not proud of it – and the only reason we’re telling you is because we think it offers a salient critique hidden in the depths of its childishness – but we both shouted “PEE STAINS” in unison.
