Our claws are involuntarily unsheathing at the sight of this look and we’re just self-aware enough to realize it may be fairer to turn the final call over to y’all. And speaking of folksy colloquialisms, we found the entire CMT Awards red carpet to be distinctly underwhelming. Before any judging of Country Barbie gets underway, we should recognize that she put the time and effort in. Glamour is her brand and if nothing else, she’s great at sticking to a very consistent, if limited form of it.
We mean… it’s not terrible, right? Sure, the style is as stale as a week-old bagel and certain details like the beaded hem and modesty panel do not entirely speak of a certain level of chicness, let’s say. On the other hand, this is very much her and pretty much correct for the venue, which isn’t exactly asking for Met Gala levels of fashion. A little fringe and some big tacky-ass earrings are practically a dress code requirement. And we actually do think you need to respect the general vibe of the event and fellow attendees when you assess a look. This is … not terrible, as we said. A lot of our ambivalence comes down to thinking she can do a lot better than this. You tell us: does it hit the mark or fall tragically short?
