Darlings, for once, we’re declaring this red carpet a judgment-free zone. The point of the Love Ball is not to judge but to come together in our queerness and to GAG ON THE COLLECTIVE ELEGANZA. The original Love Balls in 1989 and 1991 were a watershed moment when queer culture, ballroom culture and the mainstream culture overlapped and influenced each other in ways that were all too rare up to that point. And not for nothing, but they raised a ton of money for AIDS causes at the time. We couldn’t POSSIBLY sit here and bitch about hemlines or accessories with a history like that. Instead, we invite these queens, divas and fashionistas to COME THROUGH and serve their lewks to a for-once appreciative audience. You’re all chic in our eyes, darlings. Crazy, but chic.
