CANNES RED CARPET SHOWDOWN OF THE WEEK: Elle Fanning vs. Elle Fanning

Because this week, THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE. Or in this case, two looks on one person. Miss Elle had herself such a banner week on the style front that we thought it would be unfair to pit anyone else against her. Instead, we picked her number one and number two look of the week. It’s just that we disagree slightly on which look occupies which slot.

Lo’s Pick: Elle Fanning in Dior Couture

Lo’s Defense: Oh my God, shut up. This is flawless and I shouldn’t even have to defend it or explain it. No one came close to this level of fierceness this week, let alone the respect for fashion history implied. She looks amazing. Don’t make me say it again.

T’s Pick: Elle Fanning inn Vivienne Westwood Couture

T’s Defense: That Dior is a tough act to follow but I will make two quick arguments here; one for modernity and another for fashion over costume. This look plays with princess and ballgown tropes but it gives them a boldness, freshness and edge. This feels like true fashion and style on display rather than a sense that someone’s wearing a costume recreation of a museum-piece of a look.

Strong words from two bitches! Which one of them swayed you the most, darlings?
