The stars of The Sheep Detectives came out for the New York premiere and we have to admit, we’re pleasantly surprised at all the heavy lifting on display. We’re still going to be nitpicky bitches, though. As God made us.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus (in Chanel) and Hugh Jackman (in Dolce & Gabbana)

She looks perfectly fine, and she’s certainly not too young to be wearing that jacket, but it does have the whiff of elderly museum docent about it and we think she could pull off a more youthful or less stale style. At the very least, she could pair it with jeans. It’s not like we’re at the Oscars here. As for him, that’s a beautiful color on him but there’s entirely too much of it. A suit like this needs a white shirt, a contrasting tie, and a closed jacket. Anything less looks sloppy. Hate the matching buttons. He needs some product in his hair. A little color on his face wouldn’t hurt either.
Regina Hall in Tod’s

The fit is slightly iff, but we really like this for her. The muted color story looks great on her and we like the leather trim and contrasting strips. Love to see a pair of big old hoops on the red carpet. Time to get those never-fails back on the trend list. Like, who looks bad in a pair of killer hoops? Quibble: a leather bag would have been more cohesive.
Brett Goldstein

Color and contrast! Fresh footwear! We love you, Brett Goldstein. You’ve been listening.
Molly Gordon in Miu Miu

The blouse is cute. The skirt is way too country kitchen.
Nicholas Braun

We tend to get cranky about black dress pants with contrasting blazers, but we’re just happy to see contrast and pattern in a menswear look on a red carpet. Untuck that tie, please.
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
The film follows George Hardy (Jackman), a shepherd who loves his sheep and raises them only for their wool. Every night he reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand, never suspecting that not only can they understand but they argue for hours afterwards about whodunnit. When George is found dead under mysterious circumstances, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. The local cop Tim Derry (Braun), on the other hand, has never solved a serious crime in his life, so the sheep conclude they will have to solve it themselves, even if it means leaving their meadow for the first time and facing the fact that the human world isn’t as simple as it appears in books.
