Let’s throw one out to y’all. Especially since we’re likely to get yelled at over this one.
We really, really, really don’t like it.
We kept holding off on judgment, hoping we’d be won over by the uniqueness, the boldness, the lack of conventionality. And look, we love the idea of it for those very reasons. We might have been won over if she’d ditched the cape completely. Certainly, a jacket would’ve snapped this right back to correctness for us, although it would have sacrificed a considerable amount of drama. We keep toying with the idea of switching the colors. A black cape with black pants (which would look awfully Count Dracula) or a white cape with white pants (which would kind of make her look like the pope)?
It would seem there’s no good way to edit this look and keep it Oscars-worthy. It has to be accepted on its own terms. In other words, it all comes down to a very simple question:
