It’s not the highest-profile event on the awards season calendar but dammit, some stars got dressed up and hit the PGA Awards red carpet and we are going to pay them the respect of judging them for it. Are you with us? We said ARE YOU WITH US?
Okay, then.
Constance Wu in J. Mendel
It’s a decent enough red carpet gown in that it’s generically glamorous and hard to get wrong. But a dress like this needs some killer styling in order to make a gal stand out and it’s just not happening on that front. Bump up the hair and makeup, probably the jewelry as well.
Linda Cardellini in Georges Chakra Couture
We have to admit, we were kind of struck by how unapologetically pretty it is. It’s not trendy except in the color, which looks lovely on her. The styling has a mildly Audrey vibe to it without being too literal about it. We only wish the skirt was lined a little better.
Mindy Kaling in Oscar de la Renta
That beauty queen sash is a horrible design element and we’re not convinced this is the best color for her.
Octavia Spencer
Chic, with just a little touch of glam. We might have rec’d picking up the gold in the sandal a bit more, but she looks great.
Regina Hall in Reem Acra
Oof. No. The textile’s bad enough, the lattice bodice is horrifying.
Sterling K. Brown
Perfection. Love the subtle color play throughout.
Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen
That’s pretty cute.
Yalitza Aparicio in Dior
Here’s one attendee who wasn’t fixing to half-ass her way through this event. That gown is stunning on her.
