Janelle Monae made a very welcome (by us, the only people whose opinion matters on such things, some say) style swerve for her visit to Jimmy Kimmel.
We feel like you need to see it on her as she walks out to really get a good look at it. That might lead us to suggest that this dress might have been better off walking a red carpet, but honestly, it’s a tossup to us. It looks really great when she’s sitting down. The color really pops and we love the playfulness of the shoulders and sleeve-gloves. This is a perfect example of who she can maintain the sort of whimsical funky robot girl aesthetic that she tends to love most while still dialing it back for something as mainstream and anodyne as a talk show. She looks fantastic.
