Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel were all smiles at the premiere of The Christophers, possibly because the film’s getting great reviews.

Also possibly because they look pretty great. And because they’re posing for pictures, of course. This concludes “Tom & Lorenzo Point Out the Obvious.” But wait! We have an unfortunate thing to reveal to you.

Ma’am, you had us until we got to the bottle brush hem. At first we thought the top was too plain, but considering how much the skirt’s doing, not to mention how good white looks on her, the plainness of it actually works pretty well. We might have liked a necklace or a pair of earrings that pop a little more. Can’t say we’re liking the shoes with the skirt.

Sir Ian has taken a more relaxed approach to red carpet style in recent years, as befits his age, but we think it says something about how he feels about this project that he’s in a well-tailored suit and brand new dress shoes for the premiere. He looks great, and of course his signature scarf is lovely.
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
A mainstay of the London art scene since his starry breakout in the creative explosion of the 1960’s, Julian Sklar (Ian McKellen) has drifted into a cluttered, self-imposed seclusion. His two estranged children (James Corden, Jessica Gunning) enlist Lori (Michaela Coel), a young painter and sometime-forger, to pose as a prospective assistant and gain access to a fabled series of unfinished canvases Julian has buried deep in his home studio, in a deceptive bid to secure an inheritance for themselves.
Directed by Steven Soderbergh
