Sentimental Value star Elle Fanning had herself a busy little awards season weekend as she hit the Astra Film Awards, the AARP Movies For Grownups Awards and the Golden Globes. She took distinctly different style approaches to each event, which is to be expected.
In Rodarte at the Astra Film Awards
We think it’s fair to say that the Astra Film Awards aren’t exactly at the top of the ladder when it comes to prestige. The trick to dressing for an event like this one is to not go overboard, but also not make it seem like you showed up in one of your leftovers. We’d say she didn’t quite manage it. This manages the trick of being both drab and weird. The color is terrible and the seaming is hateful.
In Chloé at the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards
This would appear to be the event for blondes showing up in generic black suits. We’re not mad at it, but it’s not interesting.
In Gucci at the Golden Globe Awards
As we wrote in our piece for Cosmopolitan, this probably looked amazing in person. When you get up close to it, the flowers really pop, but from more than a few feet away, it photographs as itchy and colorless. It doesn’t help the design that it’s so basic in shape and style. The only thing the dress has going for it is the beading, which is only pretty if you’re standing right next to it.
