Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey have a new lady western out today on Netflix, but the stars of The Abandons took very different approaches to their style for the LA series premiere.

Gillian, as she’s been known to do, opted for classic, professional style in a neutral color. Unfussy and photogenic. Love the big shoulders and the cocktail ring. The sandals look odd with the dress, which would have looked great with a pair of boots. Her co-star went in a very different direction:

We don’t actually mind if someone shows up to a western-themed premiere in western style clothing. Yes, it’s theme-y, but there’s a way to do it so that it doesn’t come off like a costume. The good part here is that this feels modern and unlike cosplay. The bad part is that it’s mostly ugly. She appears to have unbuttoned the shirt midway through the red carpet. We sympathize if she got overheated, but it looks much better buttoned up. The shoes are awful. If she paid someone to do that to her head, she should fire them (as in, set them on fire). If she did it to herself, then she needs to spring for a style team, because that makeup and hair is heinous.
ABOUT THE SERIES:
Washington Territory – 1854 – The matriarchs of two very different families — one of wealth and privilege bound by blood, the other a found family of orphans and outcasts bound by love and necessity — find their fates linked by two crimes, an awful secret, a star-crossed love, and a piece of land with silver underneath. The collision echoes the American struggle of the haves and have-nots, in a place just beyond the reach of justice.
Starring: Lena Headey, Gillian Anderson, Nick Robinson
