We interrupt all of this relentless Met Gala coverage to remind you that movie premieres are still happening in the world. The cast of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning came out for the premiere in Tokyo in various levels of style and effort. Let’s assess.

Greg Tarzan Davis, Hayley Atwell, Tom Cruise

No arguments here. We love that he committed to formalwear.

Sure. Okay. It’s not interesting, but it’s professional. Will we continue to bang the drum regarding his hair. If this really is the last MI film, it’s time for him to get it cut and let it go gray. He’s in fantastic shape and looks far younger than his years, but that boy band hair over that clearly aged face is not to his benefit.

It’d be a perfectly chic LBD if you got rid of that stupid bow and train.

Simon Pegg, Pom Klementieff

He looks pretty great, so long as you don’t linger too long on the details. The color is gorgeous on him and the fit is impeccable. We like the subtle tone on tone. But we’re sorry, that ombre effect is tacky, especially in combination with the flashy jewelry, velvet dress shirt and the shades. But we just spent all week saluting dandyism, so we’ll note that the only truly egregious part is the ombre.

There not enough “Girl, no”s in the world. This goes beyond “Girl, no” and is firmly entrenched in “Girl what the fuck is wrong with you” territory. There is simply no way anyone who chooses to wear this dress is doing so because it’s pretty, or chic or looks good on them. You wear a dress like this for the attention it grants you. Well, mission accomplished, but you look like a crazy person with terrible taste.
