No time for talk! We’re on DAY THREE of our Met Gala coverage! Gotta go! Bye!

Oh. It’s WEDNESDAY. Settle in and blahblahblah. Really. Gotta go.

The Conjuring delivers Last Rites: An exclusive first look at Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson’s final haunting
The conclusion to the Warrens’ story involves the infamous Smurl family haunting and Ed and Lorraine’s now-grown daughter, Judy.

On the last day of filming his final Conjuring movie, Patrick Wilson didn’t have some momentous cathartic moment. There was no, “Oh my God, it’s all over,” he says of wrapping this fall’s The Conjuring: Last Rites and, with it, his 12-year stint as demonologist Ed Warren. Wilson just doesn’t look at life in those terms.
“There’s only so many times you can say, ‘This is the worst case we’ve ever had!'” the actor, 51, tells Entertainment Weekly in jest.

For Genevieve O’Reilly, Mon Mothma’s Explosive Andor Speech Was 20 Years in the Making
“It’s been a long wait,” O’Reilly tells Vanity Fair of getting her biggest Star Wars showcase to date. “I remember shaking when I was giving it.”

Star Wars fans knew this moment was coming. With the Ghorman Massacre imminent, lore had it that Mon Mothma—the politician from Chandrila fighting for peace and democracy, while secretly serving as an informant for the Rebellion—would give an explosive speech before the Senate that would officially end her double life and turbocharge resistance to the Empire. In the ninth episode of Andor’s second and final season, we reach that point. An elaborate plan comes together to allow Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) to speak from the dais, against the wishes of her colleagues and the Empire’s leadership—and more surprisingly, we hear her unshakable remarks in full.

Fashion editors are still obsessed with this bag 6 years after it launched
A designer icon

When Jonathan Anderson first stamped the Loewe anagram logo on a raffia basket bag for his Spring/Summer 2019 collection, it was almost an overnight success.
Of course, basket bags were nothing new, championed by the likes of Jane Birkin, who proved that the tote, worn with a Breton top and high-waisted jeans, could be so much more than just a beach bag.
But Loewe firmly put the slightly overlooked bag on the fashion map, and it’s stayed there ever since. Fast forward to the Spring/Summer 2025 season and it is still a cult designer favourite that every fashion editor and influencer is obsessed with.

Trust me, these designer sandals are well worth the investment
From famous fashion-favourite styles to the new shapes you need to know

The pub garden is open, picky bits sit front and centre in the supermarket, and the sun makes an occasional appearance, marking the start of the Spring/Summer 2025 season. So, all of our outfits suddenly feel incomplete without a great sandal. And, right now, luxury labels are delivering.
Of course, we have the famous fashion fan favourites: Hermès’ Oran slides in the signature orange shade, and The Row’s chunky Ginza flip flops, which are regularly spotted on a whole host of famous faces (or feet, to be more precise), still sit at the top of many wish lists. But this season has also seen some excellent newcomers enter the mix.

I tried TikTok’s viral silent walking trend every day for a week to quiet my racing mind – and I’m amazed how calm I feel
Zero distractions, maximum zen.

When was the last time you went for a walk without your phone, a friend, or any other distractions? If you’re anything like me, you might be hard pressed to remember, so when I was asked to try out the viral silent walking trend, it’s safe to say my interest was piqued.
While I do walk most days (I have a small dog, so that helps get me out of the door), it’s definitely more functional than relaxing, although often I’ll find that I’m more chilled on my return. And it’s no coincidence, either: there are mountains of research proving that the humble stroll is beneficial for both mental and physical health and wellbeing. Notably, studies (such as this one, published in the journal Geroscience) show regular walking reduces our risk of developing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and dementia, as well as improving sleep, longevity and mental wellbeing.

11 best anti-chafing shorts to wear and save your thighs this summer
Live life chafe-free.

Ever found yourself googling “what can I wear so my thighs don’t rub”? Us too. Luckily, anti-chafing shorts are here to save the day (and our sanity).
It’s no secret that everyone’s mood completely changes as soon as the sun starts to shine (hello, endorphins), but it can switch just as quickly when you begin to feel that familiar, painful rash between your thighs. Chafing is extremely common – it can occur in all shapes and sizes, sexes, genders and so on – but it’s rarely spoken about.

Foods you should never eat before bed, according to a nutritionist
Your midnight snack may be worse for you than you realise.

There’s nothing quite as satisfying as an indulgent midnight snack, is there? A little somethin’ somethin’ right before (and something maybe even in) bed. Maybe you enjoy snacking on a few pieces of chocolate before you hit the hay. Or perhaps, you creep to the fridge at 11pm and pull out that leftover takeaway and tuck in.
If this sounds like you, we have some disappointing news — apparently, eating right before bed can cause havoc on the digestive system as you nod off. “Of course there are career or relationship considerations that could get in the way here but ideally, you should aim to have two to four hours between finishing eating and going to bed,” Kyle Crowley, Chief Product Officer at Protein Works says. “This will give you the best chance at reducing physical discomfort from digesting the food.”

It’s Time For The Handmaid’s Tale To Finish, Torturing Women Should Not Be Entertainment
The sixth — and final — season of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ is back but how did it get this far when its entire premise centres on torturing women?

‘Life imitates art far more than art imitates life,’ Oscar Wilde posited in his seminal 1891 essay The Decay of Lying, acknowledging the imbalance of symbiosis between fiction and reality. The membrane between the two is famously thin, after all.
It would take almost 130 years before Wilde’s thesis would be concisely proved with the 2017 premiere of The Handmaid’s Tale, which aired the same year that the #MeToo movement once again began gaining momentum. It also happened to be the same year that Donald Trump was first elected as President of the United States. The show, with its signature dystopian darkness, became an almost-instant hit, and more series were swiftly written, filmed and released. Each was darker than its predecessor. The sixth, and final, season of the show is now back — the first episode of which is now available to watch on Channel 4 — yet with a creeping tide of authoritarianism around the world, a sweeping regression of women’s rights, and a gentle thrumming of political repression already tearing the world apart at its seams, does anybody really need to watch what is a petrifying reality for many be fictionalised and billed as entertainment?

From 3D nail art to minimalist nude

The Met Gala may be fashion’s biggest night, but it’s also beauty’s biggest night. This year the Met Gala 2025 best nails are showing some major range. From 3D nail art to minimalist nude manis, there’s a little bit of everything.
This year the Met Gala 2025 Costume exhibition theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” while the dress code for the event is Tailored for You. We’re seeing plenty of fashion and beauty looks tailored to each guest, and that goes for the manicures as well. From Lupita Nyong’o’s Tiffany blue nails that perfectly match her suit to Ego Nwodim’s 3D button nail art echoing her blazer’s buttons, the best nails of the 2025 Met Gala are a masterclass in fine details.

Met Gala 2025 Best Hair Looks: Coco Jones, Zendaya, and More
From sculptural updos to expertly laid baby hairs.

When thinking about the Met Gala 2025 best hair, let’s first revisit the theme of the night— “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”—and the dress code for the event, which is “Tailored for You.” On this (very rainy) first Monday in May, fashion and beauty fans not lucky enough to be invited to red carpet of the year gather around their computers to debate a simple question: Who nailed the theme and who did their own thing and still looked otherworldly?
As far as the best hair goes, Teyana Taylor nailed the assignment, first wearing a top hat before removing it to unveil a durag and expertly laid baby hairs. When it came to updos, actor and presenter La La Anthony and Saturday Night Live star Ego Nwodim showed off their tailored style, with Anthony opting for sculptural shapes and Nwodim going all out with braids shaped into a fascinator.

All About Meghan Markle’s Engagement Ring and Its Connection to Princess Diana
From its original significance to the latest changes.

Meghan Markle’s style has always been chic, and she particularly loves simple, sleek, high-end pieces. She’s also been known to send subtle messages through her clothing, including supporting brands she loves. The same careful thoughtfulness applies to her everyday jewelry, from her classic Cartier Love bracelet the gold Cartier watch she inherited from her mother-in-law Princess Diana. But no piece holds more significance than her engagement ring.
The original piece, which has a sweet story and some impressive significance, has been an extraordinarily popular style among royal fans and jewelry aficionados alike. On top of that, the ring’s been updated since 2017, which has been the source of much speculation—and appreciation—for Meghan’s evolving style.

12 Types of Honey, From Clover to Manuka — and How to Use Them
Honey, you’ve got options.

Honey is a sweetener, but it’s more than simply sweet. The flavor of raw, unpasteurized honey is a direct reflection of the land. Each drop is a story of where the honeybees forage and pollinate; each has notes that can range from floral and fruity to caramel- and toffee-like, as well as everything in between.
With so many bears, bottles, and jars lining the honey shelves at the grocery store, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But don’t worry — we’ve got the scoop on all the types of honey and which ones you need to take home.

Why Your Favorite Server Quit — the Real Cost of Hospitality Burnout
Restaurants are back, but the people who work there may not be OK. Here’s what you need to know.

“I’ll meet you by the dumpster in five.” That’s what I used to say to my sous chefs in between shifts to escape the confines of the kitchen when we needed to discuss sensitive information that could affect the team’s vibe for the rest of that day. It was our only true safe space.
The demands on hospitality professionals are more acute and apparent than they have ever been. You’ve seen it as a customer, I’m sure. From the corner pub to the global hotel chain, the human cost of the post-pandemic era is prevalent. Businesses are shuttering early and often. Those that remain are understaffed and lacking services. You may have noticed a downturn in the overall quality of hospitality, and seen more of a show of emotions from the people on both sides of an interaction. Sometimes you just need a safe space as a team to discuss these daily challenges. Mine was the dumpster.

Where to Try Philly’s Other Iconic Sandwich
These sub shops may put cheesesteaks in second place.

Philadelphia’s iconic cheesesteak may grab most of the sandwich headlines, but when I want a real taste of Philly in a roll, I go for a hoagie. This local version of a sub is most famous for its classic Italian preparation: a salt-fat-acid-heat combo of cured Italian meats and cheese, hot or sweet peppers, chopped onion, oregano, and oil, all piled on a chewy roll. Tracing its roots to the early 20th century, when Italian-American laborers brought overstuffed meat and cheese sandwiches for lunch in an area of Philly called Hog Island, the hoagie has since spawned infinite varieties. Start with the Italian, yes, but don’t sleep on versions with chicken cutlet, vegetables, and even tofu.
No matter how you slice the cold cuts (or if you skip them entirely), the hoagie makes for a genuine, if sloppy, local experience. Here’s a sampling of the best hoagies in Philadelphia.

‘Andor’ Creator on That Stunner “Genocide” Speech and Its Real-Life Inspiration
“The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil.” Tony Gilroy breaks down Mon Mothma’s searing anti-authoritarian warning from the third block of episodes in ‘Andor’ season two.

It’s worth noting that Andor season two began production in November 2022 and wrapped around February 2024. So filming was completed long before the reelection of Donald Trump and just a few months after the Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023 (the latter having sparked much debate among experts — such as here and here — over the right or wrongness of using the word “genocide” when describing Israel’s military response in Gaza).
Asked about the sequence and its real-life inspirations, Andor creator Tony Gilroy told The Hollywood Reporter, “The really sorry truth about the about this question — and we get it a lot — is that peace and prosperity and calm are the rarities. Those are rarities throughout the last 6,000 years of recorded history. You could drop this show at any point in the last 6,000 years, and it would make sense to some people about what’s happening to them.”

The truth about what really happens before the Conclave: Tatler’s Vatican City insider on why the real papal hustings play out at glamorous galas before the cardinals cease contact with the outside world – and how dirty tricks, smears and Whatsapp gossip will decide the next Pope
What’s really been happening behind closed doors? Big money, big gossip and Machiavellian campaigning strategies, says Tatler’s Conclave Correspondent William Cash

Following the death of a pope, there’s a nine-day period of mourning in Rome with sombre rites known as the Novemdiales. For those Cardinals whose ambition is to walk out onto the balcony of St Peter’s dressed in papal robes (historically from the Roman ecclesiastical tailor Gammarelli), it’s also a week-long period of enacting another equally sacred ritual: intensive rounds of lunching, dining and vote trading over glasses of wine when the real papal hustings take place.
For all the spiritually-correct talk of the Conclave result being decided ‘by the grace of the Holy Spirit’, its realpolitik is a cross between Machiavelli’s The Prince and an unholy political election campaign playbook along with dirty tricks, smears, and – critically this time – gossip filled WhatsApp groups and social media lobbying (all phones are confiscated when the 133 cardinals are locked into the Sistine Chapel, so now’s the hour). Bar Peneitenzieri, in a side-street off St Peter’s, has been buzzing with prelates and Vaticanistas all week.

Dishing With the Stars of ‘Nonnas’
Lorraine Bracco, Brenda Vaccaro, Talia Shire and Susan Sarandon discuss playing cooks in a new film, aging in Hollywood and the movies that their grandchildren cannot yet watch.

When I signed onto a video interview with the stars of the new Netflix release “Nonnas,” the conversation was already in progress. Brenda Vaccaro, best known for her work in “Midnight Cowboy” and “Once Is Not Enough,” was raving about the film, directed by Stephen Chbosky, based on the true story of Enoteca Maria, a restaurant in Staten Island where the kitchen is run by older women. […]
Eventually, I was able to greet the group, which includes Vaccaro, Lorraine Bracco, Talia Shire and Susan Sarandon. The veteran actresses, whose credits include “The Godfather,” “Goodfellas” and “Thelma & Louise,” all play the movie’s nonnas, who are recruited to cook Italian American delicacies by Joe Scaravella (Vince Vaughn), an M.T.A. worker mourning his own mother. Bracco is a brash Sicilian named Roberta whose specialty is a stuffed lamb’s head called capuzzelle. She fights with Vaccaro’s Antonella, loyal to her Bolognese heritage, over which region has the better traditions. Sarandon is the glamorous pastry guru and hair stylist Gia, while Shire is a nun who left the convent to pursue her dreams. (Not all the nonnas here have grandchildren.)

This California Waterfall Is Called the ‘8th Wonder of the World’—and It Reopened After 9 Months With a Gorgeous New Trail
The trail to the Burney Falls at McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park is open again to visitors. Here’s how to see it responsibly.

The National Park Service reported a record 331.9 million visits in 2024, showing just how much we are all craving getting a little time outside with Mother Nature. However, we sometimes love Mother Nature a little too much, which was the case with one particular site in the McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park in Northern California, which was forced to close several trails for nine months for repairs after its record-breaking visitor numbers.
But now, the trails are back and ready for (responsible) action—and will lead you to arguably one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the nation.

This Is the Most Expensive City in the World—and It’s Not New York City or London
Small apartments in Monaco cost $3.88 million on average.

There are plenty of places to move to if you really want to stretch your dollar during retirement, or if you want to be a digital nomad. However, if you’re someone who is absolutely swimming in cash (in this economy, no less), then the newly minted World’s Most Expensive City may be for you.
Every year, Henley & Partners, a company that helps people understand their options for residence and citizenship by investment (in partnership with global wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth), which tracks global wealth migration trends between countries and cities, released its World Wealthiest Cities Report.
