We love high summer because it’s the time when every celebrity will accept any invitation to show up at some festival in Europe. Here’s Keira Knightley wearing an old tablecloth to the “Nouvelles Vagues” International Biarritz Film Festival, which is a thing.

We’ve noted before that, despite her romantic image, she’s never been much of a fashion girlie. Unlike Kristen Stewart, who tries to bring a punk queer edge to her Chanel relationship, we always get the impression Keira just stuck out her hand and accepted whatever the Chanel rep put in it. It’s an incredibly mumsy ensemble, but despite our dislike of white lace, we could see it having possibilities with breezier styling and a wearer more suited to it. We think she’s simply too long-waisted to make that cropped jacket work and she’d have been better off just wearing the dress. We bet that jacket would look cute with a pair of high-waisted jeans.
