Zoe Saldaña showed that the Emilia Perez Oscar train may still have some steam in it, as she picked up the Best Supporting Actress BAFTA Award and gave a speech in support of her trans nephew, naming them as the reason she took the role in the problematic, yet highly lauded film. That’s all very interesting, but what’s truly important here is that she wore a black lace dress that we really like.
The ancient keepers of T Lo Lore know that we tend to hate black lace dresses above any other hateable frocks. But what we’ve always said about black dresses as a whole remains true for this subset of the genre: if it’s interesting and cute, we’re fine with it. The fit is exquisite, the sheer effect is extremely subtle, and we love the overtly regal feel of that exuberant collar and neckline. The necklace is well chosen and her hair is pretty. It’s a win all around.
