And just like that, a frontrunner emerged. Not that the Golden Globes are necessarily the most above-board of awards or predictors of the Oscars, but when The Substance star Demi Moore grabbed that trophy and delivered the most beautifully heartfelt speech of the night, you can bet a lot of Academy voters, who love themselves a comeback story (just ask Jamie Lee Curtis, Brendan Fraser, or Ke Huy Quan) sat up and made plans to screen their first body horror film. As we’ve said for many a year now, in order to win the Oscar, one must become the Oscar. That usually refers to the kinds of glittering gold gowns that reek of glamour and A-list residency, but sometimes it just means showing up as your best, most glittering self.

Mission accomplished. As we said in our writeup for Cosmopolitan last night, she looks like a diamond in a flute of Champagne and we don’t think we’ve ever paid a better compliment. The color looks amazing on her, the silhouette lends her a sense of grandeur, the jewelry is well chosen and the hair works well with it. She looks amazing. More importantly, she looks like a winner.
