We spend the weekend catching up on the looks at the Palm Springs Film Festival, so we don’t have the excuse that this is our first red carpet post of 2025, but we’re going to lean on it anyway, because we decided to kick things off with an easy one. When it comes to assessing the results of the collaboration between Zendaya and her stylist Law Roach, nine times out of ten, we just have to show you the pics and step back.
That’s just gorgeous, and the color is uniquely eye-catching. Law referenced mid-century Black icons like Diahann Carroll, Dorothy Dandridge and Eartha Kitt on Instagram. We tend to think that retro styles shouldn’t be paired with retro styling – especially in the hair and shoes – because the results can come off costumey and affect how the wearer moves in it. We wouldn’t have suggested the Dorothy Dandridge hair or the DTM shoes for these reasons, but the thing about Zendaya/Law is that they both know how good she is at creating a moment and serving a look. In other words, there’s no stiffness or formality in her posing. She brings life to these styles and makes them feel current. In related news, girlfriend is sporting a big honkin’ diamond on her left hand.
