They may not make the most exciting or interesting of style choices, but not-so-basic, not-so-little black dresses are a style perennial and we have to figure out some way of getting all of these looks covered in a timely manner, so themed rundowns it is! Hit it, widows!
Awkwafina in Jenny Packham
She seems to have two style modes: Wacky and fusty. This is okay, we guess, but it’s better suited to Jane Fonda.
Cristin Milioti in Rodarte
This is spectacular black widow/mafia wife style. It’s extremely well suited to her and of course it’s a callback to her work in The Penguin.
Fernanda Torres in Olivier Theyskens
It’s a simple, but impactful look. We love the breezy hairstyle.
Gal Gadot in Armani Privé
It doesn’t look worth the pain of wearing it and she looks miserable.
Janelle James in Christian Siriano
It’s as classic as classic gets and she looks great in it, but it sits way too low. Love the hair.
Jennifer Coolidge
We like her more relaxed style of late, but we’d like to assure her that she can still do the sparkly, sexy stuff if she wants to.
Jodie Foster in Christian Dior
The epitome of a Jodie Foster get-it-done sort of look. She’s comfy and she looks fit af.
Liza Colón-Zayas in Christian Siriano
She certainly looks happy with it, but we don’t think the design flatters her at all and it looks old-fashioned to us.
Michelle Yeoh in Balenciaga Couture
Absolutely stunning.
Miley Cyrus in Celine
It’s hot and full of attitude. It’s not the most interesting dress but she wears it really well.
Nava Mau in Atelier Versace
It’s okay. She looks great in black, but we’d rather she opted for something with a little more glam and sparkle to it.
Pamela Anderson in Oscar de la Renta
The beachy hair will never work for us with these formal styles, but the clean face works so much better with high contrast style choices. We like this, for the most part.
Sarah Paulson in Elie Saab Couture
This feels like a notable style shift for her. It’s style in that space-tacking mode that she prefers but this feels more conservative than her usual. It’s fine. A little too fussy for our tastes.
Sofia Vergara in Georges Chakra Couture
You’ll pry this style of dress from her corpse and we can’t really blame her for never abandoning it.
