We realize this is because of the work we do and that not everyone goes through life thinking these things, but every year, we love watching a star get unexpected Oscar consideration, whether it’s because they’re a newcomer or, our personal fave, a veteran who’s been overlooked for a long time. Whether it’s obvious or not, we’ve worked pretty hard to not become overly invested in the world of celebrities (’tis a silly place) and maintain a critical set of eyes, but this is the one time in our opinionating that we’re happy to cheer just a little. It’s just fun to watch someone open up to all of the plaudits, parties, trophies and magazine covers that come with awards buzz. Demi Moore has been having the time of her life this year, and while we’re not a hundred percent convinced that a nom is a lock, we’re enjoying watching her navigate the spotlight again with obvious glee. The star of The Substance received the Maria Manetti Shrem Award for Acting at the SFFILM Awards gala and she looked like hot shit doing it.

Nailed it. No notes at all, girl. A moto over a gown is… well, we suppose we could call it stale, but like combat boots with girly sundresses, it’s become a classic over several generations of women. She looks great and the denim honestly gives it an elegance that leather might not have. The necklace is a perfect touch.
