Around these parts, we like to think that we’re equal opportunity opinionators, so when these shots of Conclave star Ralph Fiennes at Watch What Happens Live popped up for us, we felt we had an obligation to yell at the man. He’s getting serious awards buzz right now, and if we’re gonna keep telling Pamela Anderson everything that’s wrong with her makeup-free approach to Oscar campaigning, then we owe it to our readers to yell at him for doing the same in his leaf-raking clothes.
What’s annoying about this is how aggressive and clearly curated this look is. There’s not caring about how you look and then there’s this, which is more about sending the message that you don’t care about how you look. But context matters a lot in style and he would have had every reason to believe and know that his host would be in a suit and his co-quest would be in a dress and heels. This is a flex and it’s a pretty obnoxious one, in our opinion. We don’t mind jeans, but this is the least stylish way to wear them.
