Let’s go, Romans! The stars came out for the world premiere of Gladiator II in London and we are happy to report that not one of them attempted any sort of theme-dressing, thank Jupiter. Hopefully, we can get through this one without any togas or pteruges making an appearance.
Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal (in Gucci)
The former co-stars had a really cute Irish lad reunion on the red carpet where they were all hugs and smiles with each other, evidently bonding over their love of awkward outfits.
No one can make this collection of fashion items look hot or chic, Andrew. No one. The cardigan is nice, but the idea of wearing it tucked into a pair of awkwardly proportioned dress pants is giving us rage eyelid twitches. He has the weirdest, least helpful (for himself) preferences.
Meh. We realize that a lot of his appeal lies in his rakish ability to make dishevelment look hot, but we’ve never really been into that idea and we never thought it suited him well. Just once, we’d like to see impeccable grooming and styling.
Connie Nielsen in Del Core
Ma’am, you had us until we got to those awful DTM slides. The color looks beautiful on her, it’s perfectly fitted to her, and we dig the pseudo-goddessy vibe that doesn’t lapse into literality, Not in love with the puffy sleeves, though.
Denzel Washington in Dolce & Gabbana
The fit is terrible. It would look like he was working security even without the sneakers. He just needs an earpiece to complete the look.
Jodie Turner-Smith in Issey Miyake
Beautiful color, fabulous draping. This is one time where we’d have liked a slightly more toned-down beat, but we figure she’s going for a bit of a Cleopatra vibe.
Joseph Quinn in Prada
He looks pretty great. We love the jacket and the shoes, although we can’t help thinking that a standard pair of black dress pants is probably the least interesting way to go.
Pedro Pascal (in Bottega Veneta) and Lux Pascal
Gotta say, while we could quibble with some of the details here (needs a belt and a hem job), this is one of his best red carpet looks ever. The hair is really working for him and we’re digging the whole Zorro vibe. It really suits him.
