We tend to think of actors like Jodie Foster as one of the most celebrated of their generation, but it was a bit of a surprise to learn that she’d never been nominated for an acting Emmy before this year, which resulted in her first Emmy trophy. Not that the win itself was puzzling or undeserved. We were singing the praises of this performance right from her very first scene. She’s long preferred simple, stately styles with a bit of sharpness to them. We’re not used to seeing her succumb to the weirdness put out by Louis Vuitton in recent seasons, but the house seems to have tamped down on its own aesthetic in order to give her what she wants.

Sleeveless isn’t really one of her go-tos, so that’s a bit of a surprise. We love the overall design, which definitely suits her and plays to her preferences. The color looks great on her and we love the gold belt, but that Miss America sash just looks awkward and fussy in a way that seems uncharacteristic for her. It’s mostly a great look, but we’d have yanked that one detail off.
