(Some of) The cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power put on their (sort of) finery and headed to Berlin to promote the premiere of the show’s second season. Not to sound snottily dismissive (far, FAR too late for that, we know), but a lot of times, a Berlin premiere on a promo tour that doesn’t have any German actors involved usually means maybe two cast members and very little effort in the style choices. It’s kind of impressive so many of them turned up and (kind of) turned out for the occasion. Granted, this doesn’t even comprise half the cast of the show. We’re likely to see all of them at the London and LA premieres. Anyway, onward to harsh judgments!

Perfectly fine suit, but the shirt does nothing for it. Everyone’s keeping to a fairly dressy dress code, but this would’ve looked cute with kicks and white tee.

Hmmm. We think he can do better, although we can’t fault him for lack of trying. This outfit is well coordinated, but the cut of that jacket does nothing for him. Stick to more conventional sports coats.

Again with the boring black tees. This is a pretty fine suit, but the look isn’t particularly photogenic. He needs some color and he needs to groom that mess of a beard.

It’s pretty cute, but we think she’s doing most of the work of selling it. Those shiny sleeves and puffy shoulders aren’t great.

Was there a memo put out that all of the guys had to wear taupey neutrals that don’t fit them as well as they should? Because we’re detecting a sameness in all of these looks. He looks hot, but we loathe those pants, from the color to the shape to the piss-poor hem job.

Finally, some real style and color. He looks fantastic in this, although we’d have rec’d a more subdued blue to go with that green. We’re glad to see a male castmember willing to get a little dandy. We just wish we understood why this show insists on casting middle-aged actors as ageless, immortal elves.
