Warner Bros. to Release New ‘Lord of the Rings’ Movie ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ in 2026, Peter Jackson to Produce and Andy Serkis to Direct
Warner Bros. will release the first of its new batch of live-action “The Lord of the Rings” films in 2026, which will focus on Andy Serkis’ Gollum.
Original “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy filmmaker Peter Jackson and his partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are producing the movie and “will be involved every step of the way,” Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said during an earnings call Thursday.
The project is currently in the early stages of script development from writers Walsh and Boyens, along with Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou, and will “explore storylines yet to be told,” Zaslav said.

Baby Reindeer’s Real-Life Martha Says Richard Gadd Is “Obsessed With Me”
In a bombshell Piers Morgan interview, Fiona Harvey refutes “defamatory” stalking allegations and threatens legal action against both Netflix and Gadd: “They have billed it as a true story; so has he. And it’s not.”

Speaking with Piers Morgan on Thursday’s episode of his YouTube show, Harvey said she was forced to go public after the show premiered on April 11. “The internet sleuths tracked me down and hounded me and gave me death threats,” she said. “So it wasn’t really a choice.” VF has reached out to reps for Netflix and Gadd for comment.

Should we feel guilty for watching (and obsessing over) Netflix’s Baby Reindeer?
Fiona Harvey appeared on Piers Morgan’s YouTube channel to condemn the show.

Last night, an interview aired. Piers Morgan sat down to talk to Fiona Harvey, the woman who claims to be who the character of Martha was based on. When announced, Piers’ ‘world exclusive’ was met with anger, glee, concern, and horror – all of which are highly useful responses when your profits come from interaction and outrage.

Taylor Swift’s updated Eras tour setlist in Europe – every song to expect on her 2024 tour
We’ve been loving Taylor for quite some time, time, time.

Taylor Swift just kicked off the European leg of her iconic Eras tour in Paris with a fully revamped setlist.
The musician cut several songs to make way for fan favourites from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department, with songs such as The Archer and Long Live being replaced by newer bangers like The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived and But Daddy, I Love Him.

It’s 2024 and slut-shaming is worse than ever – especially if you’re a working-class woman
“We see the slut-shaming of working-class women in pop culture all the time.”

We see the slut-shaming of working-class women in pop culture all the time. Netflix’s Sex Education was a show which ran from 2019 to 2023 about two students who start their own sex ed clinic at school. One of the main characters is a working-class schoolgirl called Maeve Wiley. She is significantly poorer than her peers and lives in a caravan, struggling to make rent after being abandoned by her family. And she is routinely slutshamed. Every comment, rumour and aggression sent her way is loaded with undertones aimed at her social class and her sexual expression.

Spacey Unmasked: This docu-series explores new sexual assault allegations against Kevin Spacey
According to the official description, Spacey Unmasked “will explore never-before-heard experiences and emotional testimony around allegations against the Oscar-winning actor for over three decades, tracing back to 1981,” including “first-hand accounts from multiple men who have previously not shared their stories publicly.”
In 2017, actor Anthony Rapp was the first to allege that Spacey made a sexual advance at him when he was 14 years old and Spacey was 26.

Elisabeth Moss says Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie had rival ‘camps’ on the Girl, Interrupted set
When life imitates art.

Any girl who’s been through an angsty phase has likely found herself watching Girl, Interrupted, the 1999 movie based on a memoir of the same name, about life in a psychiatric hospital in the ’60s, particularly the wing that treats young women with severe mental and emotional disorders. The cast is stacked with a roster of A-listers: Whoopi Goldberg, Winona Ryder, Clea Duvall, the late Brittany Murphy, and Angelina Jolie, who won an Oscar for her role. Also in the cast was a young Elisabeth Moss as Polly “Torch” Clark, recognisable from her feathery voice, as her character’s face was disfigured in a fire. Now, she’s spilling a little tea on the behind-the-scenes tensions, and, yeah, there were cliques.

A Snow-Covered Volcano: Faye Dunaway’s Explosive Artistry
In her 1995 autobiography, the legendary star of Bonnie and Clyde and Chinatown proves that she has a flair for drama.

“When I look beyond Faye Dunaway now, I can see a brown-haired, barefoot girl standing in the middle of a dirt road that runs through a small southern town,” Dunaway writes in Looking for Gatsby, her 1995 autobiography.
This quaint image seems worlds away from the sophisticated, broodingly electric star of legendary films like Bonnie and Clyde, The Thomas Crown Affair, Network, and Three Days of the Condor. She has long been a subject of fascination; this month, she’s also appearing in a new documentary, Faye, where she opens up about her struggles and bipolar disorder.

How Your Pantry Looks Says a Lot About Who You Are
The performative pantry must be stopped.

If you’ve ever watched a home makeover show, you’re probably familiar with the now-ubiquitous aesthetic of an organized kitchen in the 2020s. There’s open shelving, with plates and bowls neatly stacked and no cabinet doors to hide behind. There’s usually a vast, gleaming, kitchen island. And every single food item, from pasta to spices, has been removed from its original packaging and put into matching, labeled, clear containers, usually plastic.

Tokyo’s Favorite Doughnut Shop Is Coming to New York City
Get ready to try what might be the fluffiest doughnut in existence.

A new type of doughnut is officially on its way to New York City. Last week, I’m Donut, a Japanese doughnut chain with five locations across Tokyo and Fukuoka, announced that it will be opening in Times Square.
“Not every Japanese person is familiar with the different cities around the United States, but everyone knows New York — especially Times Square,” says I’m Donut chef and owner Ryouta Hirako. “I thought the best way to get people from all over the world to taste I’m Donut would be to open a store there. There is no better location for the first storefront outside of Japan.”
But this is no regular doughnut shop. Chef Hirako specializes in Nama-style doughnuts, which translates to “fresh.”

Here’s your first look at the 4 flavors.

The company shared with Food & Wine that it’s dropping a brand-new craft cocktail line of fruit-based beverages. Taylor Swift Debuted a Custom Vivienne Westwood Gown for Her New ‘TTPD’ Eras Tour Set
“That was The Tortured Poets Department, or as I like to call it, Female Rage: The Musical.”

She wore a custom white Vivienne Westwood ballgown, with a corseted bustier bodice that revealed the edges of a black bra below and a structural asymmetrical skirt that revealed one leg. On the skirt, the lyrics “I love you, it’s ruining my life” from the song “Fortnight” were scrawled out in cursive in various sizes and formations. The dress, very appropriately, resembled scrunched up bits of scrap paper that had been used for scribbling down lines of poetry and then tossed aside.

Justin and Hailey Bieber Are Expecting Their First Child
The power couple made the pregnancy announcement with a stunning photo shoot.

The announcement, posted to Instagram on May 9, shows the couple looking very much in love in a stunning pastoral photo shoot featuring Hailey’s growing baby bump, of course. The multi-slide carousel starts out with a video of the couple kissing on a mountainside. Hailey wears a stunning sheer floral lace dress in white and a matching veil, courtesy of Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. The effect is almost bridal, and possibly is a reference to her famous Virgil Abloh-designed wedding dress and lace veil. Justin, for his part, wears a comfortable fuzzy coat and backwards hat.

A Summer Travel Guide to Aspen, Colorado
An Aspen, Colorado summer is nothing short of spectacular. The skies are a sparkling electric blue (Aspen gets 300 days of sunshine per year), while the temperature hovers at that Goldilocks range of high 70s, low 80s. Indian paintbrushes and bluebells dot the meadows, and the air seems to carry a certain fresh sweetness from all that’s in bloom. The Rocky Mountain peaks, unburdened from heavy snow, exude their full majestic glory. There are abundant trails for mountain biking and hiking, and the Roaring Fork River is a paradise for paddleboarders, kayakers, and flyfishers alike. Add in Aspen’s impressive culinary and cultural offerings (the Food and Wine Classic, held in June, attracts thousands of visitors each year), as well as its world-class shopping, and you have a summertime destination well worth the trek.

Jessica Lange on Returning to Broadway in ‘Mother Play’: “It Still Thrills Me”
The ‘Feud’ and ‘Tootsie’ actress was nominated for a Tony Award for originating the role of Phyllis, a gin-swilling force, in the new play.

Do you still get excited about a Tony nomination?
“Yes, absolutely. It was a real leap of faith to do an unknown play, create a part that’s never been done before and have a living, breathing playwright in the room with you. We’re changing things and adapting and moving. It was a great experience and something I’d never done before, because the other three plays I’ve done have been in the canon of American classics. And it’s a small play. I mean, there are just the three of us on stage for an hour and 45 minutes, so you have to really trust and believe in the other two actors up there with you. And it’s just been a joy working with Jim [Parsons] and Celia [Keenan-Bolger]. The best news of all was that the three of us were nominated.”

In Ecuador, Homes That Are Part of the Mountains
A group of architects are creating disjointed structures that, in responding to their unsteady terrain, are a new model in cooperative building.

[…] In the shadow of all those upheavals, Quito has become an unexpected locus for a group of architects who argue, perhaps unsurprisingly, for added transparency, community and sustainability. All close friends, all under the age of 50, all guided by the imperative — repeated among them as a mantra — to “do more with less,” these practitioners, organized in collectives, build with materials like recycled wood and earth and share their resources and knowledge freely. “Their architecture is part of the land,” says Ana María Durán Calisto, 52, a Quito-born architect and scholar at Yale. “They’re neither Modernist architects of Latin American socialism nor neoliberal architects of Latin American corporatism,” she says. “They are architects of the minga.”

A Family Found 17th-Century Gold Coins Under Their Kitchen Floorboards—and the Collection Just Sold for $75,000
The coins are believed to be from the First English Civil War, which took place from 1642 to 1646.

Planning a home renovation can be a massive undertaking, but you might just strike gold in the process. At least that was the reality for a couple living in Dorset, England who found a trove of 17th-century gold and silver coins while renovating their kitchen.
The family’s discovery was recently sold by Duke’s Auctioneers for $75,000—nearly doubling the initial sale estimate of $37,674. The auction house sold the coins piecemeal, rather than as a collection, with one coin fetching $6,250 alone, Smithsonian Magazine reports.
