The stars of Madame Web came out for the premiere in some hardcore fashion, for which we are appreciative. Unfortunately, a good deal of it was web or spider-themed, for which we are enraged.

ENRAGED. We will sigh dramatically and get on with it, however.

As high-impact moments go, we can’t get mad at this. The buzz on this movie wasn’t all that great (the early reviews are vicious), so we don’t blame her for grabbing this spotlight moment and making the most of it. Having said that, the huge opera coat and showgirl costume really don’t go together. The combination might work better if it were more of a gown, with a skirt that hit the floor. It would still be pretty tacky, however.

All that work by the Oscar de la Renta team to produce a chic web-themed gown and all anyone can think looking at these pictures is THONG. Perhaps a nude body suit of some sort would have worked better. Or maybe just don’t make thong-framing designs for the red carpet.

The bodice is beautiful. It deserves a better skirt.

Then again, maybe a nude bodysuit isn’t the answer to every partially imaginary dress out there. This just doesn’t look good. She’s gorgeous, with a slammin’ bod, but this just hangs off her like a sparkly net. Again, all that work to produce a garment that’s completely underwhelming and can’t even make a stunning woman look good.
